In 1956 the Checker Model A8 was introduced. The Model A8 was Checkers response to the New York City taxi laws that mandated that Taxis could not run on a chassis wheelbase longer than 120 inches. Checker cars and taxicabs used the same basic body and chassis design until production ceased in 1982. There were numerous changes in the appearance of the cars throughout its production. Features: Factory assembled with detail parts applied; Interior with separately applied steering wheel; Clear window glazing; Trunk-mounted advertising panel with graphics; and Rubber tires. Era: 1956 - 1999.
