FeaturesTwo is better than one! You'll get X-tra value with the Estes Tandem-X Model Rocket Launch Set. This exceptional rocket set features a pair of extreme, high performance rockets with a launch system for launching them. Whether you're a new rocketeer or a seasoned veteran, launch in tandem for an exciting model rocket experience! The E2X (Easy to Assemble) Amazon is as imposing as the name sounds. This giant towers almost three feet high and is quick and easy to build! A tiger-striped body tube, precolored plastic nose cone and fins and self-stick decals make building this rocket easy to do in about an hour. When flown on Estes standard engines, this huge rocket can reach heights over 650 feet with recovery on a 18 inch preassembled parachute. The Crossfire ISX rocket kit features a totally streamlined shape with aerodynamic fins and nose cone. It stands 15.6 inches tall. When launched with powerful Estes standard engines, this bullet can reach cloud busting heights up to 1,200 feet. A preassembled 12 inch parachute returns the Crossfire back to earth to launch again and again. Estes model rocketry is recommended for ages 10 and up with adult supervision for those under 12. The Amazon rocket model requires assembly. Assembly time can take up to a couple of hours. E2X kits contain parts that are colored, easy to assemble, plastic fins or fin units and plastic nose cones. Glue the parts together as instructed, apply the self-stick decals and attach the recovery system. The Crossfire ISX rocket model requires assembly. Assembly time can take an afternoon. Requires some painting, gluing and sanding. Features laser cut balsa fins, plastic or balsa nose cones, self-stick or waterslide decals, unfinished body tubes and step-by-step instructions. Q & A COMMENT: I wanted to get my son into model rockets. He is 13 and lives away from me. I wanted a complete kit that would give him the majority of the supplies with launch pad to enjoy this gift. by Matthew H 11/26/2012 COMMENT: gift for sister by Jason M 7/21/2012 COMMENT: 'cause it's cool by Justin D 6/5/2012 COMMENT: good buy by T A 2/19/2012 COMMENT: Buying all three of these items instead of a bulk educators pack was cheaper and it gave me a little more control of what I could have in the bundle. AND the edu pack came with baby A series engines, now we'll have some big C6-5 motors! : by Tommy V 2/16/2012 COMMENT: Because with this set I can get two rockets for the price of one. by Constance S 2/10/2012 QUESTION: do launch kits include wadding amd igniters? by None N 6/5/2012 ANSWER: No, they don't, though the engines also sold separately do include just enough igniters for the engines in the pack. I keep some extra igniters on hand in case of misfires. by M A 6/6/2012 STAFF ANSWER: Launch kits do not contain engines, igniters, or wadding. They can be purchased separately from our website. by eHobbies C 6/5/2012 QUESTION: I'm trying to find other rockets to use with this launch pad What pad is it? by None N 4/15/2012 ANSWER: the pad will handle most rockets up to 3 feet tall . check the secs on the rocket and if it needs a special length rod it will specify what length rod is needed. this pad will handle both 3/16 and 1/4 "inch rods. we even lauched a 7 ft rocket off this pad and it worked well. it may be nesessary to stake or weight down the legs since the pad is really light weight plastic by T A 4/23/2012 ANSWER: It's the Port-A-Pad II with the 1/8" launch rod. by M A 4/16/2012 STAFF ANSWER: The launch pad included is an Estes Porta Pad II #302215. You can use all of the Estes rockets except the E engine rockets, and the Pro Series rockets. You can also use all of the Quest model rockets. by eHobbies C 4/15/2012 QUESTION: What engines should I buy for those 2 rockets thank you. by Soon H 11/16/2011 ANSWER: You can see it on the "specifications" tab on the product page. Just in case it doesn't show up in your browser, I've pasted them here: Crossfire ISX Recommended motors: 1/2A6-2, A8-3, B4-2, B4-4, B6-2, B6-4, B6-6, C6-3, C6-5 Amazon Recommended motors: B4-2, B4-4, B6-2, B6-4, C6-3, C6-5 The Crossfire is small and fast, so I'd recommend the smaller engines unless you have access to a really large field and can time your launches for times when there's low wind. The Amazon is larger, so you can get some pretty fun launches with the C engines and still have a good chance of recovering it. by M A 12/8/2011 ANSWER: These rockets use anything from A8-4 to C6-5. So my recommendation will be to buy B6-4 for the first flight and C6-5 by A P 12/8/2011 ANSWER: I used C-6-5 engines. The amazon has a big body and accelerates slowly. I would use smaller only if at a confined or tricky launch site. Max by M A 12/7/2011 ANSWER: It takes both B & C size engines. by G A 11/17/2011 ANSWER: These rockets can take the A, B and C series rockets. It tells you which ones in additional components page. They won't go very high on the A's. Maybe try that for a first launch to get calibrated. But I'd go mainly with the bigger C's if you have room. The larger rocket in this kit will do 5-600 feet on one of the C's, the small one over 1,000! by L I 11/17/2011 QUESTION: What size engine should I use for the Estes E2X Amazon and the Crossfire ISX model rockets? by None N 11/7/2011 ANSWER: I got the Estes C6-5 by M I 11/8/2011 ANSWER: For the Amazon E2X, we used C6-5engines For the Crossfire ISX, we started with the 1/2A6-2 engines, then moved up to the B4-2 engines. My 12 year old son had a lot of fun with these. Todd Goodale Belmont,Ma. by V O 11/7/2011 |
