Q & A COMMENT: need igniters to launch rockets. some times they don't launch and you need extra. by robert t 12/5/2012 COMMENT: No igniters no FIRE. by Matthew H 11/26/2012 COMMENT: was required by Jonathan A 11/3/2012 COMMENT: Sonetimes these will flake out and it's good spare thing to have. by Dmitry E 9/17/2012 COMMENT: Required for rocket by Jennifer S 5/1/2012 COMMENT: Because while it was once included in the starter set; now, -like everything else, it's sold separately! by Master S 4/30/2012 COMMENT: It's always a good idea to have some extra igniters. by D A 4/24/2012 COMMENT: Always need to be prepared by James H 3/26/2012 COMMENT: needed some spare ignitors by T A 2/19/2012 COMMENT: required accessory by Linda U 12/22/2011 COMMENT: It fit my other product by Heather M 12/9/2011 COMMENT: Our son wants it by Tammy H 12/1/2011 QUESTION: How many volts/mA do these igniters requite Thanks, Roger by None N 9/9/2012 ANSWER: 6-12 volts by D A 9/9/2012 ANSWER: These can fire with as few 4 AA alkaline batteries in series. Thus about 6V/0.75A. This is a typical approach for older Quest and Estes Ready To Launch kits. Some newer kits have gone with 9V batteries. Keep in mind that if the igniter resistance is always the same, the higher the voltage, the less current is needed. Ohms Law --> Volts = Current x Resistance by M A 9/9/2012 STAFF ANSWER: estes standard igniters require a minimum of 6 volts that is why their launch control uses 4 AA batteries, and have an all fire-rating of 2 amps. by eHobbies C 9/9/2012 QUESTION: Need a helpful tip regarding Estes igniters Installing the igniter into the engine by eHobbies C 3/13/2012 ANSWER: we take the igniter and push the black end into the engine as far as it will go and then use the plastic plug to hold into place, the plastic seems to go in hard but will go if its given some pressure. when you let go of the plastic plug it shoud stay in place. we never remove the tape and just separate the wires to the left and right and hook up the launch wires being sure the safety pin is out of the launch control and nobody is handiling the controller. also make sure wires or clips do not touch the metal plate of the launh pad as this will short out the ingniter and will not fire. we use a close pin on the launch rod to hold the rocket up slightly off the lauch pad so nothing in the wires or clips dont touch the pad by T A 3/13/2012 STAFF ANSWER: One more thing regarding engine plugs. To correctly matching the igniter plug with the corresponding engine: Yellow plugs fit A6, A8, and B4 style engines. Magenta plugs fit B6 and C6 engines. by eHobbies C 3/13/2012 |
