The Wessex, easily recognizable by its distinctive line characterized by the elevated cabin of the pilot, was produced by the British Westland under license. It was based on the cell helicopter American Sikorsky S-58 and adoption of a turbine engine from 1,200 hp Rolls-Royce of English production. Thanks to an extraordinary longevity, Wessex was, for nearly three decades, employed by the British Royal Navy to carry out, in its different versions, many operational tasks. Among the latest versions of the HU 5 is one that has borne the brunt of the most exhausting being used during the Falklands War of 1982. The Westland Wessex UH.5 was in fact qualified, during the conflict that has seen opposing Argentina and Great Britain, the tactical transport. And 'though in the transportation of Royal Marines Commandos, during the assault and infiltration, that the Wessex UH.5 has yet demonstrated great strength and reliability.
