This model is based upon a boat built in the Boothbay Harbor region of Maine, and is typical of Lobster boats in use today. These boats were developed after World War I, when inexpensive and reliable gasoline engines became available for use in powered launches. With their speed, capacity and stability in rough seas, the Maine Lobster boat soon replaced the Friendship Sloop and powered Dory as the primary workboat of the Maine Lobstermen.
