The experimental X-15 rocket plane was originally built to see if a manned aircraft could withstand speeds of up to Mach 6 (4,520 mph) and also to determine if it could reach altitudes above 100,000 feet. By the time the program ended in 1967, Mach 6 speeds had been achieved and altitudes of over 350,000 feet were attained. Includes an authentic color waterslide decal sheet and a display stand.
