The Sherman family of armored vehicles was the mainstay of the allied armored forces in World War II. The Sherman tank saw extensive service in every theater of the war. Sherman M4s equipped with a prong like device welded to the front hull could cut through the hedge rows during the invasion of Normandy. This version of the Sherman M4 was called a hedge hog.
