Model rockets are typically ranked by skill level however the actual rank system varies between manufacturers. Estes Rockets skill levels include Ready-to-Fly, Easy-to-Assemble and Skill Levels 1 – 5. Estes rankings are based solely on the difficulty of building and do not include difficulty of flight as a consideration. At eHobbies we have taken some of the confusion out of rankings by assigning Estes Rockets into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels, based not only on build difficulty but also on flight performance. Intermediate level rockets are mostly Level 2 according to Estes rankings however a few Skill Level 3 rockets are included in the intermediate rankings due to their overall ease of construction. Equally, some Easy-to-Assemble Rockets have made this group due to their requirement for size D or size E motors, which require adult supervision for anyone under age 18.
