As one of the German Army's most successful trucks, the light 3 ton truck (Sd. Kfz. 11) was also deployed by the artillery and antitank defense units in the North African war theater. Here it served to draw the 75mm type 40 anti-tank cannon as well as carry a crew of eight. Included in the set is a BMW R 75 motorcycle with sidecar and 50 infantrymen of the German African Corps with their typical sand-colored desert uniforms and tropical shoes, sand goggles, kerchiefs and the typical peaked caps. Led by the legendary desert fox, General Rommel, they managed in 1942 to push the British troopers right back into Egypt, although in 1943 the British and Americans encircled them in Tunesia and forced them to surrender. Model details: Truck with crew and detailed drive wheels; Separate 75 mm gun BMW motorcycle with sidecar; Diorama base plate with the remains of shelled buildings; Decals for two versions; and Includes 50 figures.
