In WWII the Germans modified many freight and passenger locomotives for use in transporting troops and armor across the battlefield. Heavy steel plates were affixed to both sides of the locomotives to protect them from enemy attack, as these were slower moving transports and easy targets. The BR86 was a heavy steamer with a 2-8-2 wheel arrangement and could pull numerous transport vehicles. Kit consists of 634 parts on 18 sprues, plus four vinyl pipes, photo etched part and clear parts. Includes full cab interior detail, drive assembly, chassis and boiler.
