The first F-100 was delivered to the USAF in 1953, becoming the first fighter to break the sound barrier with a world record of 755 mph. Having been delivered near the end of the Korean War, the F-100 was used extensively in Vietnam.The D version of this fighter featured many additional components including flapped wings, internal electronic counter measure equipment, and a low altitude bombing system. The F-100D flew with a single crew member and carried numerous bombs, rockets and missiles.
