The Lexington (CV-2), was originally designated CC-1, laid down as a battlecruiser Jan 8, 1921 Quincy,Massachusetts. Authorized to be completed as an aircraft carrier July 1, 1922, commissioned December 14, 1927. On December 7, 1941, based at Pearl Harbor, when word of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was recevied, she immediately launched searchplanes to hunt for the Japanese fleet. On May 7, 1942, Lexington's air group sank the Japanese light carrier Shoho. On the 8th, the Lexington was hit by 2 torpedos and 3 bombs and rolled over on her side and sank. Kit consists of 583 parts on 20 sprues plus lower hull, upper hull and waterline plate for optional waterline construction. Flight decks and display stand also included. Markings for the Battle of Coral Sea, May 1942. Included also are four F4F Wildcats of VF2, six SBD Dauntless of VB2/3 and three TBD Devastators of VT2 (13 aircraft total all with clear canopies and folding wings). Paint colors needed: Gold, Cocoa Brown, Flat Black, Blue Gray, Light Gray, Deck Blue, and Light Blue Gray.
